Demanding transparency, preserving public records, and holding local government accountable
Alabama Justice Watchdog is an independent public oversight initiative dedicated to shining a light on municipal leadership, tracking public records, and ensuring government transparency. We believe the community has an absolute right to an open, documented paper trail of the actions taken by those in power.
After a local police chief's past comes to light, the town forces his resignation.
This video documents
• The past assignment of the chief
• The confrontation between the victim's mother and the chief
• The chief's wife's defense of her husband
• The reaction to the wife's defense
• The accountability of the town council
Born from documenting a direct violation of first ammendment rights and an unlawful arrest, we actively monitor and film police interactions. we ensure law enforcement and public officials respect the constitutional rights of the citizens they serve
we bring the community uncut field and meeting footage, case breakdowns, and on-the-record interviews. if it happens in a public meeting or on a public street, we put it on the record
verifiable proof over hearsay. we actively submit public records requests and publish the records we receive so the community can read the paper trail for themselves.
